In the first 12 weeks of employment with Zero Three Care you will complete the following:

1

In-House Micro Induction

This occurs in the employee’s first few weeks with Zero Three Care. The Home Manager or Deputy will carry out this stage of the induction, working through a checklist of items to be covered.

2

The Care Certificate Framework and Zero Three Care’s Mini-Induction

All adult care and support staff must complete the Care Certificate Framework in order to meet with the fundamental standards set out by the Care Quality Commission. This provides evidence that you have been assessed against a specific set of standards and have demonstrated that you have the skills, knowledge and behaviours to ensure that you can provide compassionate and high quality care and support. The Care Certificate Standards are:

Understand my Role, My Personal Development, Duty of Care, Equality and Diversity, Work in a Person Centred Way, Communication, Privacy and Dignity, Fluids and Nutrition, Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disability, Safeguarding Adults, Safeguarding Children, Basic Life Support, Health and Safety, Handling Information, Infection Prevention and Control

As soon as possible after starting work for ZTC the new employee will attend Zero Three Care’s mini-induction, which includes all areas of the Care Certificate as well as sections on Zero Three Care’s philosophy, mission statement and ethos; an introduction to the Staff Development Plan; working with people who present with challenging behaviour; an introduction to Autism and sensory issues; and Active Support.

Studio III

This is a ‘Managing Challenging Behaviour’ course which is designed to address the sorts of problems you meet every day in your work and give you better solutions and strategies to cope with them. The ideals of Studio III are to promote the management of challenging behaviour in a totally non-violent, gentle and dignified way, by providing a better understanding and insight into challenging behaviour and by the use of low arousal approaches and gentle physical skills. It is aimed to give you the tools you need to cope with challenging behaviour so that the environment for the clients improves and you enjoy your job more, hopefully with less stress.
